Le Donne del Vino (Women of Wine) are prepared to take off for Malta, the island in the heart of the Mediterranean, that today has one of the most dynamic economies in the European Union. From November 14 to 16, they will participate as partners in three initiatives in the calendar of events organized by three most important associations on the island, responsible for promoting the culture of excellence in food and wine.

The Malta Chapter of Chaine des Rotisseurs, the biggest gastronomic organization in the world with more than 25,000 members in over 80 countries, has over 70 members in Malta who are chefs, restaurateurs, hotel directors, sommeliers and simple amateurs who love quality wine and food.

Another association involved is Il-Qatra, a men’s club of wine appreciators with 70 members who enjoy comparing notes and challenging themselves with blind tastings. Twice annually women are invited to their events.

Moreover Vini e Capricci by Abraham’s, Gozo – the ultimate gourmet experience and culinary destination on the Island will be hosting a wine sampling fair with the collaboration of Le Donne del Vino.
To make the Malta mission even more important and complete, the Ambassador of Italy to Malta, Mario Sammartino, will be present to inaugurate the three-day visit of the Women of Wine. To conclude the event, Minister of Gozo, Justyne Caruana will preside at Vini e Capricci by Abraham’s.

The women wine producers who participate will be led by the national President of the Association, Donatella Cinelli Colombini, who has made Malta her second home, notably in Gozo. Thanks to her work as intermediary, contacts and trips have been established.

Italy is the primary business partner for Malta,” comments Daniela Mastroberardino, Vice President and National Vicar of the Association, who is coordinating the Malta mission. “On the island, there is a very positive perception of Italian products. The GNP has increased 9% since 2016. Tourism is on the rise: in 2018, it went up 14.3% with respect to 2017. And more Italian tourists have come: in 2018, +7.4% with respect to 2017,” confirms Mastroberardino.

Specifically, the program of the Malta Mission includes Thursday, November 14, starting at 7:30 p.m. a Walk Around Tasting at the Corinthia Palace Hotel in Attard.
