THE INITIATIVE LAUNCHED WITH THE TOURING CLUB ITALIANO CONTINUES INTO AUTUMN: 57 WINERIES IN ITALY OFFER A PLACE TO PARK IN THE VINEYARDS, AS WELL AS DISCOUNTS ON WINE PURCHASES, ORGANISING VISITS AND TASTINGS FOR THOSE TRAVELLING ON THE ROAD.
A camper van holiday with a view of the vineyards: this is the eco-sustainable tourism proposal conceived by Le Donne del Vino in the year dedicated to Women, Wine and the Environment. Since July, many winemakers have opened the doors of their cellars to tourists in caravans and camper vans to offer them a night’s stay in the vineyards.
This is the Camper Friendly project created by Le Donne del Vino together with the TCI – Touring Club Italiano, which aims to bring travelling holidaymakers who usually see travelling as an emotional discovery that brings them into direct contact with nature, places and people closer to great wine.
The idea of combining female hospitality and camper vans came from Friuli-based wine woman Elena Roppa. There are wineries run by women all over Italy, producing extraordinary labels in natural and historical settings of outstanding beauty. The very concept of hospitality is the starting point for this initiative, which aims to propose the places of wine as privileged destinations for those who love to travel.
And it is for these holidaymakers that Le Donne del Vino have also conceived special picnics, organised on a tailor-made basis (to be agreed), so that each stop at the winery can be a unique and unrepeatable moment.
